Tommy Lawson was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1963, after receiving both his A.B. and LL.B. from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, and was the Legislative Editor of the Alabama Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Tommy was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on active duty for over three years, serving with the Atlantic and Sixth Fleet in Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Ocean, and Beirut, Lebanon. Tommy was born and raised in Montgomery, and is the great grandson of a former governor of Alabama and the son of a former justice on the Supreme Court of Alabama.
Among many other notable professional achievements, Tommy served as an Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Judicial Circuit, was appointed Special Attorney General of Alabama on numerous occasions by several Governors and Attorneys General, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. Tommy concentrates his practice in the area of commercial, business, insurance, and estate litigation, as well as alternative dispute resolution.
