Jimmy Walter was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1981, after receiving his B.S., cum laude, from Washington & Lee University and his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Alabama, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Alabama Law Review. Prior to joining Capell & Howard, Mr. Walter clerked for Judge Truman M. Hobbs, Middle District of Alabama, and was an associate with a large Birmingham law firm for three years before returning to Montgomery.
Mr. Walter is the co-chair of the Litigation Section of the firm. He has extensive experience in commercial and business litigation, including contract, fraud and class action litigation. Mr. Walter has tried numerous cases to successful conclusion in Alabama state and federal courts. He has also argued a number of appeals in state and federal appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Alabama, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Walter has served as a Bar Examiner for the Alabama State Bar and is heavily involved in professional and civic associations within the city and state. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the speciality of commercial litigation.
