Firm Overview
Capell & Howard, P.C. was founded in 1947 as a two-member partnership between Jack L. Capell and Fontaine M. Howard. Since its founding, the Firm has increased in size and scope and has for many years been one of the largest law firms in central Alabama. The Firm's principal office is in Montgomery, Alabama's capital city, and the Firm maintains an additional office in the rapidly expanding Auburn/Opelika community in east Alabama. Capell & Howard is a full service firm engaged primarily in the areas of business and tax law, litigation and dispute resolution, and commercial real estate, mortgage and secured lending, and title insurance. The Firm provides a broad range of legal services to a diverse clientele in Alabama and throughout the Southeast, in addition to serving a number of select national and international clients.
The Firm has a proud history not only with respect to the lawyers who have devoted substantially all of their legal careers to the Firm, but also former members of the Firm who have served and are now serving the public in other ways. These "alumni" of the Firm and their current positions include: Neal H. Acker, General Counsel of the Alabama Housing Finance Authority; Richard F. Allen, Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Corrections; Constance S. Barker, Commissioner - United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; John L. Capell III, Retired Circuit Judge of Montgomery County; and Kenneth D. Wallis, former Chief Legal Advisor to the Governor of Alabama.
Capell & Howard also serves as Alabama's member of the State Capital Group, an international association of law firms with offices in the capital cities of each of the 50 states and many financial centers around the world. With its unique network of capital-based attorneys, state government practitioners, and international law attorneys, the State Capital Group's member firms are strategically positioned to serve the most diverse and complex needs of clients in today's global economy. The Group's independent member firms can provide clients with instant access to all fifty state governments and their executive, administrative, legislative and judicial bodies. Member firms practice independently and not in a relationship for the joint practice of law. For more information, visit the State Capital Group website at www.statecapitalgroup.org.
Capell & Howard appreciates your interest in the Firm. Although this web site is intended to provide a general overview of Capell & Howard, its attorneys, and its areas of practices, the Firm realizes that it simply cannot address every potential issue in such a limited format.
