11/30/2009 - Firm attorneys obtain order denying class certification
On November 30, 2009, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama entered an order denying class certification in the case of Eugene Crum, et al. v. State of Alabama, et al., 2:94-cv-00356-MHT. The Crum litigation involved the claims of a putative class of tens-of-thousands of State minority employees and applicants who alleged systemic discrimination by the State in its hiring and promotions practices. Lawyers for Capell & Howard, P.C., including Chris Weller, Henry Barnett, Jr. and Mai Lan Isler, have served as primary counsel for the State since 1994 and authored the winning briefs on class certification.
