Jim Scott was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1961. He received his B.A. in 1958 from the University of the South, and attended law school at the University of London and received his J.D. in 1960 from the University of Alabama, as well as his LL.M in taxation from New York University in 1962. While in law school, he was an Editor of the Alabama Law Review and the Editor-in-Chief Mahout of the University of Alabama Literary and Humor Magazine, and was selected for ODK. After law school but prior to beginning the practice of law, Jim was a member of the U.S. Army 20th Special Forces.
Jim taught the Alabama Bar Review course on Corporations for over 15 years, and also lectured in the areas of Corporations and Estate Planning at the Jones Law Institute. Due to his experience and reputation in the field of law, Jim has been annually listed in The Best Lawyers in America since its inception.
