Tim Gallagher has a diverse practice encompassing litigation and transactional law with an emphasis on commercial litigation, financial services, business law, broadband/telecommunications law, and nonprofit organizations law. He litigates at the trial court and appellate level including before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. Additionally, Tim represents clients in administrative actions with federal and state agencies.
Tim also represents clients in a variety of transactional matters, including business formation and business acquisitions, as well as drafting and reviewing contracts, commercial leases, and loan documents. He also has substantial experience assisting nonprofit organizations, including forming nonprofit entities, obtaining tax-exempt recognition, and representing clients in grant disputes.
Tim has been a pro bono volunteer since his admission to the Bar in 2007. In addition to handling numerous pro bono cases, Tim has taken on a leadership role in pro bono efforts at the state and local level. In 2013, the Montgomery County Volunteer Lawyers Program (Montgomery VLP) was founded and Tim was elected as the first President of its Board of Directors from 2013-2016. Additionally, Tim has served on the Alabama State Bar Pro Bono Celebration Task Force since 2012. Tim was appointed Vice-Chair of the Task Force for 2017 and served as Chair in 2018. Tim has also been a member of the Alabama State Bar Pro Bono and Public Service Committee since 2013.
In 2022, Tim was awarded the Alabama State Bar Harold Albritton Pro Bono Leadership Award for his statewide pro bono efforts. In 2014, Tim was awarded the Thomas J. Methvin Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award for his volunteer work in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, Tim was awarded the Montgomery VLP Medal of the Samaritan. Tim was inducted as a Fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation in 2018.
